Yup, but what opportunity does the child have if the parents choose a door that kills them or makes them debilitated for life? It certainly is the right of the parent to decline but if something happens to the child that was preventable or curable who is responsible?

If parent A fails or is negligent to strap their child in a safety seat while driving and the child gets inured or killed from an unforeseen accident should the parent be allowed to say oops, "I know I could have strapped the child in the seat but it's my right." How many would find that appalling? What is the difference?
