alj14, remember the days when your water pipes in your house were made of copper tubing? Not no more, the housing crash coupled along with the rise of PEX and CPVC tubing for water piping systems has greatly reduced the demand of copper in the construction of homes.

Not sure what percentage copper tubing is in terms of total copper distribution, but just 4 years ago over 2 million new homes were built, now we will be lucky to crack the 500,000 mark this year.
