I don't think scottrade is the cheapest because of their additional fees if the stock is under a buck. Check the fine print.

I use Ameritrade at 10.99 flat fee. Freetrade is a unit of Ameritrade. If you don't need streaming quotes,or level ii, it's free up to 20 trades a month!! All electronic. No calling a person, just email to solve problems. No IRA's, either. You have to have a margin account, even if you don't use it. I would think it's the same execution/backroom as Ameritrade. That is about the best deal. Look up Freetrade.com and review it.

I think E trade has a 9.99 deal. I think there are others in the same range.

Lowtrade is $5 flat commission. I was going to open an acct there but haven't gotten around to it.
