What does everyone think about this idea:

Would it work to have a board without links? I thought this board could be a forum for discussion of Apple events, but because it's an open board it will be visited by some antagonists as well as those of us who are interested in discussion.

That usually devolves into a linkfest and having to sort through a lot of debris in order to engage in a discussion. Even our closed board devolves into a repetitive linkfest at times.

If we make this board for discussion only and define links as "not discussion", thus off-topic, I think we can have an interesting board where people can say things in their own words rather than posting links to things other people have said.

We already have stock message boards on several sites where links are posted, sometimes repeatedly, and I find it gets old fast.

Those who have links to items they'd like to share can post those links on the stock message boards and direct readers to the board where the link is posted.
