Testing and R/D of a product should never be done in the public eye. Weather it is the prototype of a new car or water heater, a company would be stupid to allow access or even tell where it's located until all patents are locked up. If the company were to tell any investor/spy how to get a sneak peak or talk to and possibly compromise the testing staff...that of course would be inside information.
