No, they can't unless they build their team into a franchise. At one time George couldn't do that either. I don't feel sorry for these millionaire owners. They don't spend every cent they have when they buy a team. They are millionaires. I agree some make the most money from the sale of the team. But maybe they should put more money into the team to help build it instead of a nice new Jet or shiney new Yaught for 7 to 14 million. You mentioned earlier yes Red Sox made are getting money back from their investment in Dice-K. You have to spend money to make money.
