Turns out, he's an investigator for maritime incidents; he and message-board pals used photo evidence from the camera to track down the owner...in Aruba.

On the youtube vid, you can click on See All comments, go to page 8, then fourth post up is from the owner. On page 29 of the dive thread, you can see from the messageboard perspective where "Aquahound" announces the owner has been contacted, and a few posts later, when the owner posts on the Youtube thread.
