I love Howard Stern. I'm not sure I'll ever understand the whole uproar over his "shtick". I've always been one centered around "common sense" and tune in to what I enjoy, and tune out to what doesn't work for me. I do not call Congress anytime something comes on tv or radio that "I" object too.

I listened to him for much of my life before I moved from Fredericksburg Va, to Richmond. Have I liked every bit, every segment of every one of his shows? Of course not, but how many other on air talents, comedians, singers and so forth, do you like every single thing they do? I guess Howard has been the lightning rod for every and any family group/Jehovahs people out there. Does he go to far with the sexual stuff, I reckon sometimes, but then usually I've probably already tuned out and tune in later to see if he's doing the news or talking to a celebrity. I started out listening to almost the whole show, but over time I started doing a novel thing, changing the station at the times I didn't DIG what he was doing.....WOW imagine that. I didn't call the MEDIA when I did that, I just DID it.

Howard is a super intelligent individual. Think of Richard Prior in his day, Howard might be the radio version. Definitely an icon. Very smart businessman, he's known from the start what he was doing, and how easy it was to instigate all the family channel moms with nothing better to do, good christians who never listen to the show, but want to rail against it because it's the "thing" to do and when you do everyone listens!!!

With all that being said, his time has come. His shtick has run it's course and Siri does not NEED him. I enjoyed listening to him all those years, but there'll always be somebody new to listen to or watch. Like Carson knew when it was time to say goodbye, Howard should too. His name will resonate for many years to come, and tell me you're not a "somebody" when you have that affect.

The radio version of Jerry Springer? I guess, whenever he does the sexual stuff (which I'm sorry, was not the whole show, I listened for many years). Most of it was rather lame anyways, talking about Celebs boobs, or who they'd do? Oh whatever, no big freaking deal. Even Jerry never took as big of a beating from the moral authority!!! Perhaps that's because we're ok with looking at boobs and watching crazy, ridiculous, fake deliverance type dramas, then listening to stronger sexual content (that we make the "choice" to listen to).

I'll never get that "moral" authority out there, good christians, who feel it their obligation to tell the powers that be what I can and cannot listen to or watch!, when they never did so themselves anyways, was just spoon fed to them by someone else.

Grrrr, anyways, Howard it's been a fun ride, but probably gone a few miles too far.
