Hybrid's Only Choice: Lead Acid

Dr. Alex Severinsky is a big picture thinker addressing two areas of major concern to the battery industry: Cars and power. His solution, simply put: Decrease engine size and add a lead acid battery with a control modulet hat speaks to both. His company, Paice, has testified before both houses of the US Congress in the past year; he and his colleagues have made numerous presentations at industry. To date, the company has not anounced any licensees of it's hybrid drivetrtaion technology; "we are in discussions" is all he would say.Why lead acid? it makes better economic sense than anything else. If the design catchs on(the jury is still out)it could mean an importantnew market for lead acid battery technology: each car produced with the design would use between four and eight 48-Volt batteries, each with five to ten amp-hour capacity.
