Hi Randy: Doug can play first base extraordinarily well, and, given the opportunity to play every day, will likely hit. I give you David Ortiz as an example. Lotta good players need an opportunity. If I were Francona I'd play Kevin Millar in left for Sox games on the road, and Manny in left at Fenway where left field is about 308 feet with the 37 foot wall for protection.
