You stated"Just like a Bank... the revenue that a publicly traded company has and can generate is what gives it's stock value to an investing public"
For the most part it is true, but for many companies it the just the possibility of potential revenues that drive the stock prices. Look at Google and other Tech firms and their P/E ratios. Not that they are bad plays, but when a new co comes and they fall out of favor, so do their values.
