It would appear that I have gotten involved in the age-old "technical analysis vs. fundamental analysis" debate with someone who doesn't understand either concept.

No sir you have not, you're just in way over your head going back and forth with someone that knows more than you regarding both subjects, and your ego can not handle it.......
