DM: At the tender age of 17, at the Calvin B. Matthews Marine Corps Rifle Range outside San Diego, I managed to somehow end up with the best M-14 rifle qualification score in my Training Company - the Company numbered roughly 264 Marine recruits. At 500 yards, I put 9 rounds of 10 in the 20" diameter bullseye (using the STANDARD M-14 peephole rifle sight and a pair of glasses, both generously provided by the U.S. Government).
