A few rumors crossed our desk, as chatter increased from yesterday's session. It was rumored that Massey Energy (MEE 44.12 -0.29) could be taken over, the share did not react to the rumor. Genzyme (GENZ 53.34 -0.25) shares spiked following renewed takeover chatter, but the shares could not hold onto their gains. There was also chatter that ATP Oil and Gas (ATPG 22.76 +0.87) could be a possible takeover candidate; however shares could not hold onto their gains. As mentioned before, while many rumors circulate during the day, and the validity of the source of these rumors can be questionable, the speculation may increase volatility in the near term
