did the trick.

I didn't want to kill ALL the passwords/userIds --- especially as I have so danged many different ones, I'd have to look up a bunch.

NOW --- browser is M/S Internet Explorer
here is a specific website problem that I've encountered since following the instructions (not a biggie, as I don't have to delete and retype as I did before <ggg>)

BUT
eBay now recognizes my correct user ID and password with no difficulty,
BUT
won't store it (Auto complete for passwords is ON)

any suggestions?
