Granted by People's Bank of China, Huatai Securities Co., Ltd. (Huatai) was established on Dec 30, 1990, and formally operated for business on May 26 in Nanjing. Huatai is one of the first batch of comprehensive securities firms approved by China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC).

The investment banking business gained rapid development in 2002 too. Huatai finished 6 deals as leading underwriter, financing volume exceeded RMB2 billion. The number of deals as leading underwriter ranked No. 3 in the industry; the number of IPO ranked No. 2; the volume of IPO as leading underwriter ranked No.8; the volume of ration as leading underwriter ranked No.4. Huatai acted as financial consultant in the deal of asset exchange of HuBeiXingHua (600886). The deal has significant influence in the industry because it is the first case relating to material restructure of listing company under supervision of authority just after relevant rule promulgated.
At present, Huatai has three headquarters in Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen, and 34 brokerage branches in large and medium cities in China with 15 service sites. Huatai established two investment-banking sub-headquarters in Nanjing and Shanghai, several investment-banking offices in Beijing, Shenzheng, Shengyang and Chengdu.
