RE:nunc pro tunc... David, while your general definition is correct, in the specific case of retaining consultants or attorneys it's used to establish the initial retention date.

If you look back at many of the filings relative to retention and billing you'll notice a significant number are referencing "nunc pro tunc" retention.

It seems to be a "gimme" and permits firms to begin work, with reasonable assurance of being paid, before the formal acceptance of the retention by the court.

In the case of Solomon it's fairly likely they've been assembling data since the EC via Venable first proposed their retention.
