The Sensory Alloy is a special metal alloy that produces an electric charge
on contact with water. Wherever the detection of water or aqueous media
is required, the alloy offers a simple, low cost, long life solution.
Alloy sensing technology is applicable to the measurement of aqueous
media in areas such as fuel, oil, and water tanks as well as other metal
products, such as oil and natural gas pipelines.
It is capable of producing .75 volts, a charge sufficient to trigger an alarm
system. For this reason, this alloy has value in monitoring leaks in a
commercial roof, basement, ship's hold, or anywhere else that moisture
must be monitored to prevent damage to expensive property or
equipment.
This technology can be operated as a battery in very low voltage
applications.
Power Technology, Inc. acquired this patent in June of 1998, and is
offering commercial licenses for this product.
