You aren't taking the quote from the PR, but rather, rewriting it to suit your purposes.

What the PR clearly says is the next phase (after completing the due diligence) is "finalizing the documents" not closing, but finalizing. And obviously, it means starting to write the documents.

Also, due diligence would be conducted by the buyer not the seller.

And... the CEO could not have told anyone he was going to make an announcement today. THAT would be giving insider information.
