UPDATE 1-JAL int'l flight rev falls 39 pct in April-Feb - Nikkei

April 1 (Reuters) - Debt-ridden Japan Airlines Corp's (JALFQ.PK) core international flight operator saw passenger revenue falling 39 percent to 399 billion yen ($4.30 billion) in the April to February period, the Nikkei business daily said.

In February, revenue from flight operations fell 24 percent to 30.9 billion yen at Japan Airlines International Co, the paper said.

If the pace of decline continued through March, the JAL group's passenger revenue from international flights likely came to 430 billion yen for the just-ended fiscal year, down almost 300 billion yen from a year earlier, the Nikkei said.

JAL saw a group operating loss of 120.8 billion yen in the April to December period, the Nikkei said, adding that the operating loss for fiscal 2009 is set to swell even further.

The struggling airline's main lenders have said they will not recommence lending unless it drastically revamps unprofitable flight operations in the restructuring plans that must be drawn up by the end of June, the paper said.
