Studies have shown that neither cigarettes nor marijuana are entry drugs that leads a person to using other stronger drugs, usually of a chemical form...however, a type of personality more inclined to experiment with marijuana, or even alcohol for that matter, is a personality more inclined to experiment with harder drugs. Also regular marijuana users are not anymore likely to be alcoholics than non-marijuana users. If anything, many mending alcoholics, as well as recovering cocaine and heroin addicts, have been able to use marijuana as a crutch against rekindling the stronger, and more severe addictions that plague them. There have also been studies that have shown that in certain TYPE A personalities, marijuana acts as a form of a sedative,inducing a "laid back" attitude, making that person less prone to violent sporadic behavior, or other criminal behaviors they normally exhibit. And there are many medical uses of marijuana that have been found to be beneficial for certain maladies, just as there is with other types of drugs. However it is still better of course, that we are free of all addictions, that keep us less free as human beings, than we optimally can be. And that is why Forterus deals with people with many different types of addictions, and recognizes the similarities, and differences, in the behaviors that all addicts exhibit to some degree. Also marijuana has been so prevelant in society, that it is doubtful that legalization would significantly increase the percentage of actual steady users, though it may contribute to greater usage amongst those that do in fact use the product, if the sale price of it were to become cheaper, as in any other commodity.
