There is no better proof that a stock will go up,than when it acts as if it can't. Consolidation action of a stock means just that: It is consolidating its gain in price for a further rise. During a period of consolidation the technical strength of a stock is being improved. It is action that tends to impress the public that the stock has lost its ability to rise further, often developing a perfect resistance level that after a time seems impenetrable. This is the way the majority are impressed, and many then sell out.
