i don't think small businesses get "gifts" like individuals do. the rule for individuals as i read it is that WHEN the money is SPENT it is counted as income (whatever portion is spent at that time).

i just emailed my accountant for an answer, and will get back when i hear from him.

reason i bring it up is that if a grant counts as income, the clout that Dr. Brian Goodall brings to BEHL, his connections, etc, could result in government dollars down the line. if those dollars count as income, the valuation of our company would get a major boost.

at 1B share count, and assuming a PE ratio of 15, every $10M in earnings equals 15 cents in PPS. so one decent-sized government grant could be a major game-changer. or it could mean nothing if not counted as income, i suppose.

anyway, just trying to get a bead on this in terms of evaluating the company.
