I believe you mistook what steelers said. He was saying it is not always the case that board members mean good things. But then he goes on to say, in SPKL's case, that they do. He was just clarifying so people don't make assumptions.

Having someone associated with whole foods is great. Whole Foods is a growing company doing very well and (insert insults and curses at me here :-/) Jim Cramer has recommended them for a while. They have a lot of decent upside potential and are also marketing towards healthy food, which SPKL tries to do as it best can for the industry it is in.

Along with that, my opinion is much like yours. Someone already serving on very well known boards would not sit in here unless the opportunity was seen to be a very good one.
