I take responsibility for my actions, no one else's. People see what they wish to see, and hear what they wish to hear. It's called selective perception.

People who willingly seek out mentors to lead them around by their noses deserve nothing more than where their selected mentors take them, and should be able to accept the fact they made their choice of blindly following rather than blame others for their failings and lashing out in some child-like manner at whomever is available or within striking distance.

To those who are, for some reason, unable to accept that they errored, I say you paid your money and made your choice, now live with it. I would suggest they take the Gestault approach of beginning right here and determining the direction of their next step. They can leave and take a different path or stay the course.

As for me, in my adult life, no one has ever given me anything and for that I'm grateful because with that I am in debt to no one. I have worked for everything I have; I have made a lifetime of choices, not all of them benefitted me as I wished they would, but they were mine to make and I have no one to blame for the poor choices but myself, and have enjoyed the harvest of the good choices.
