It looks preinstalled:

SECURITY SOFTWARE VENDOR Credant has signed a partnership deal with Dell that will see the box maker install its encryption software on Dell's commercial line of PCs at the factory.

The deal means Dell's punters can opt for Credant's Mobile Guardian security encryption on Dell's Precision workstations, Latitude laptops and OptiPlex desktops.

Of particular note is the launch of Credant's FDE DriveManager, which opens access for users to manage self-encrypting hard drives shipped by Dell on Latitude PCs.

Bob Heard, Credant CEO, said "We are delighted that Dell, one of the leading computer companies in the world, has selected Credant as a data protection and compliance supplier. It is inspiring that Dell recognizes the importance of data security and therefore empowers its business customers with intelligent encryption technology that will help protect their data from loss or breaches, and meet their compliance obligations, from the day they purchase a new PC."

Credant and Dell have been working together since 2009. Credant has been offering its security and data protection solutions through Dell's Software and Peripherals store with commercial laptop and desktop computer purchases.

edit: the encryption software appers preinstalled on some, but it is unclear if drive manager is also preinstalled, and if so are Credant and Wave co-managing the same SED?
