Thought...

IBM sells the platform division and maintains ownership of the TPM and all future services. They become the utility company for their deployed TPMs. This way they get someone else to take all the appliance supply chain/manufaturing/distribution/business model risks associated with hardware while maintaining a revenue stream tied to the distributed platforms.
