The 9 billion that Lehman received was not liquid assets. It was in the form of illiquid assets that had a face value of 9 billion. They may be worth more than 9 billion but no one knows that or what they are really worth until someone tries to peddle it. IMO



Illiquid means worth less than $9 billion. Do you see how Lehman got shafted? Now Lehman has to wait for disposition of said illiquid asset which will be years.

Plus, if I remember, Lehman had to make a half billion payment to JPM. (Can't remember the amount) Another punch to the face.
