Isn't this happening right now? How many people do you know, own their home outright, clear and free and hold the deed in their hands. The percentage is small. What's happening now? The bank institutions are offering you interest only loans to rescue those that have walked away. Very few are offering fixed low mortgage rates to get their home back.

At interest only loans, the banking institutions still own the real estate property.
