I don't know the legality of such things, but I don't see why they can't retire a large number of the restricted shares without spending a dime. I would love to hear that they are buying 150 million or more of the float with the additional retirement of 500 million or more of the restricted shares. You know, they have said that they are going to do the buyback, just not exactly how they are going to do it.
