re:It is mind boggling to me how Intel can be at the bleeding edge of physics and semiconductor manufacturing yet have just over half the market cap Apple. Intel is doing something beyond rocket science and Apple is doing a sales job.

Intel needed to break out of their supplier-only business model & go directly to the consumer with products/software/services years ago. They're only now getting it (e.g., partnerships, JVs, revenue-sharing models, etc.). And the sad part is Intel has spent hundreds of millions on their "Intel Inside" brand...all for not or at least not leveraging it as they should.
