Since TPG is an investment firm, would they be allowed to take the 5 year carryback loss? If so, then they could easily recover [through the IRS] their investment in WAMU. It is a LOSS and could be put down as such, since the IRS is being generous with the NOL's.. Bonderman may have agreed to a cancellation to get the LOSS! This would be an interesting subject for the board to discuss.

Did you see the schedule for the omnibus, they might be having Chinese delivered to the courtroom if they plan getting through all that in a couple of hours. Not gonna happen, THJMW likes to let everyone have a say and some lawyers are very "long winded" and tend to repeat things several times to get their point across.
