Rob, Your wrong on that because some times shares have a cost factor in the form 4/s.

Here's and example. Merritt acquired 12.500 shares at $9.60 and sold them at $30.00.

In this case Merritt paid the company 112,500 to get the shares to sell at $30.00 so something went into the treasury or the pot.
