Since 1935 the amount of banks throughout the country as dropped from over 15,00 banks to over 8,000 (June 30, 2008). Consolidation is a likely cause for the reduction, however it is becoming more clear that this consolidation is really just a few banks that are absorbing far more than their smaller competitors.

My question is this: The Fed has been pumping out money exponentially for over this same time period while the total number of banks handling these funds is being reduced as mentioned above. At what point will Jamie Dimon and JPMorgan be deemed too powerful to proceed with this absorption of banks? The more they absorb, the more untouchable they become as we have seen in the last 24 months. Is there no self control? No limit to the greed for money....the greed for power?
