Not sure how familiar you are with training simulators, but to remark that other companies offer training systems that are like playing games like "Call of Duty" shows that you may need to do more research. There are a host of competitors in the sim market for both law enforcement and military. Many utilize advanced gaming engines to create realistic graphics. The simulation industry embraces this technology and refers to the training element as "serious gaming."

Since you focused primarily on Meggitt (formerly FATS as you mentioned), among others, is but one of myriad companies utilizing this "serious gaming" technology. Unlike Virtra, who offers only video training, Meggitt offers both video and CGI training options coupled with weapon simulators built from the actual weapons themselves. I think I've read that their weapons technology is a patented design. You'll find that several other companies in the market offer video training - this isn't specific to Virtra - with various weapons options (anything from laser-enabled airsoft guns to laser kit-enabled simulators)and their own take on a hostile fire system.

The next time you are at the show, be sure to take the time to understand who your competition is and what they have to offer. You may be surprised.
