zeev, re: syria/iran...i do not believe that the US is going into either of those places...the US is in iraq for one main reason imo (terrorism is number two) - a reason that the US public and the world can not handle (think jack nicholson) - and that is to have a major presence/control over oil in the middle east (iraq is #2 in reserves)...it's common knowledge that the islamic fundamentalists would like to overthrow saudi arabia (#1 in reserves), and who knows what other countries in that region...natural resources will be fought over by all countries around the world in the future, and oil is CRITICAL to america's future, esp with supplies depleting so rapidly, and with china and india coming of age...i believe bush's going into iraq was brilliant, tho certain elements of it's execution could have been better...the US would be in DEEP shit if they were not over there, and say saudi arabia fell to the fundamentists, or if say china decided to "secure" all of iraq's oil
