I've heard of companies retiring shares before, but I haven't really researched it too much. On here, I've heard people say "you can see the company buying back the 1.5B shares". But if the shares retiring are in the A/S and not O/S, then they are not included in the float, and therefore, wouldn't trade. Plus, the 2.2B O/S share count couldnt be correct, leaving only 700M shares in the pool.
