Hi Jcg0176, & All,

I hope I don’t come off sounding like too much of a twit by mentioning this, but here it goes anyway. LOL

I keep reading posters talking about the 048 patent being the patent that is putting ScaMbuy, and others on the infringement list. That is true, but the 6,199,048 patent is an old patent, and more applicable to the CueCat era. I think what throws a lot of people of is all of the coverage of the reexam, and EFF. They went after this patent because it was the first patent that the newer patents refer to, but actually the first patent was the 5,978,773 patent.

The patent that is more applicable to the things that NeoMedia is doing now is the 6,993,573 patent. It references the 048 patent, and better defines the indirect method with the use of camera cell phones. This patent was issued Jan. 31, 2006. There is much life left in NeoMedia’s patents, that is the time extends about five years + beyond the 048 patent. Look at the other more recent patents like the 6,865,608 patent it has more life as well. It goes into even more detail.

So the bottom line is; NeoMedia now has better patents that will last a long time.

PS. I agree it was a great win for NeoMedia.

PS. Success did you receive any of my e-mail responses lately?
