WAMU had a mismanagement problem, which allowed them to get on the radar of the FDIC, the cash in WMBfsb was an "achilles heel" to them and when the FDIC found the chance to get it, they went after it and took it. Paulson tried his BS with US bank, they played along and rejected him at every turn, but had to play along with TARP.
These guys (US BANK) are well-managed, well-capitalized and should see a nice increase in share price by end 2Q 2010. They are an awesome investment, no exposure to the sub-primes and very little CDS, the CEO RESISTED ALL GOVERNMENT EFFORTS TO MAKE THOSE LOANS! I am familair with this bank and they really have alot of things coming soon that will boost the share price. US Bank is a great future or current investment. IMO Divies should return in full-force by 1Q 2010. Their CEO was absolutely pissed when Paulson made him take TARP, because he did not want nor need it. Paulson made him take and when he tried to pay it off a monnth later, Paulson told him NO! You need to wait, USB has always had a good capitalization ratio. They do have some unnecessary fees, but keep on increasing their depositor base, most people are just used to the fees if they want a National Bank. My community bank does not charge me 1 cent to keep my money in the bank or deposit it in there (if you know what I mean). USB may not be the biggest bank in USA, however they might just be the best in a capitalization ratio. Look for them to stay in acquisition mode through 2010. This acquisition is great for the balance sheet. USB can handle anything the government wants to throw at them or give them. IMO They are a good investment.
