It signifys a bit of misdirection in stock price. People don't really know what to do. Usually when the bid/ask starts to narrow, it signifies that there will be a bigger than average movement one direction or another. Rather than a slow uptick, expect a larger movement. I guess if you want to use the bollinger band theory. I'm not much for technical trading, I try to stick to the fundamentals, the stomach can only take some much heart burn.
