I would accept the Intel's spokespersons words as being Intel's intention. However, I would also keep in mind that no company will ever admit the sky is falling. So I ask myself what would I do if I were in Intel's shoes? I would publicly put forth my most aggressive, yet realistic if everything goes perfectly, plans as "the roadmap", because without a reliable roadmap the sky will fall (customers will defect).

I ask this though, given the previous discussion on the subject, how long will it take Intel to go from tapeout to shipping in volume for their new dual core Pentium 4's? Not the spin answer, the realistic answer? How does this reconcile itself with Intel's statments to PC World about dual core desktop chips?
