Looking for ideas, people.

I replaced my front walkway with small stones bordered by larger rocks to give an appearance of a mountain path. But the small stones move too much when walking on them.

I'm considering fixes and want to consider all possibilities before I make a decision which way to go.

A binding agent will be dificult as the layer of stones are a few inches thick and I have to worry about rain washing it away.

My current thought is to place large flat rocks/slate/etc in the middle of the path that won't shift from the weight of being walked on.

Thanks for any ideas you can throw out there.
