S2 and farooq, Thanks. Two of the IB representatives gave me different answers; I choose to believe the following:

The cut-off time for the Longs and Shorts is 4:30PM EST. The process of clearing house with Brokers will take place until Sat.

If you short the put, the shares can be assigned to you even though the PUT is OTM.

This is what happened to my positions:

1. My shares got called against my shorted calls. (I got lucky on this. The Call owner didn’t have to exercise. The stock price is currently traded around $20.20)

2. The shares were assigned to me for my Oct 24 Shorted Puts

3. My Oct 23 Shorted Puts were expired worthless (I got lucky too)

We have to take into account of the AH trading!

---------
1. I owned N shares. Shorted N Oct 24 calls. (When will the call owners have to notify their Broker not to exercise? When should IB, my broker, receive the exercise intention from the Call owner’ Broker?)

2. Shorted Oct 24 Puts

3. Shorted Oct 23 Puts

Today, Fri 10/16 option expiration, the Stock closed at $24.44 during the regular trading. After hour, the stock went as low as $22.72
