Laugh if you want to, but I am actually a NASCAR fan, so this is an interesting announcement. I am familiar with Steve Park having watched him race numerous times when he was running modifieds in the Northeast. He *was* a very talented driver and was in a great position to move up in the sport until his second major injury.

The history on his website kind of downplays it, but he had a severe head injury during that second crash and nobody knew if he would ever be able to race again. He did return but was never the driver he was previously. In interviews his speech was very slurred, indicative of his injuries, etc. His truly was a potentially great career cut short by injury.

So he does carry some name recognition for people into the sport, but he's also got the stigma of damaged goods. Provided he can qualify, it should help the KU truck get some air time as a human interest story.
