Bruce, yes - that's what the manual says >plug the UPS in for 12 hours and see if it recharges<.
Except it's way older than what APC 'promises'. And, it's always plugged in with NO load overnight. Just a couple of weeks ago it did power the pc and monitor during a power outage for as long as it took me to shut pc/mon down.
Replacement battery is about 30 bucks.
Chances are next time there's a power outage I won't be at the pc and it will lose power anyway after the 10 minutes or so the battery can provide.
I'm questioning how useful a UPS is for me. A good quality surge suppressor is a must, though.
