The irrelevance of performance in the mass market. Intel's advantage has, is, and will always be high-volume manufacturing. AMD is stuck playing in a game where the rules are defined by Intel, and AMD's success depends on Intel stumbling.

Fortunately for you eternal believers, Intel is doing just that, but even then AMD is not making any substantial gains in market share and mindshare. And Intel won't continue stumbling forever.
