JPMorgan Chase cuts stake in Bank of China

Sep. 25, 2009 (China Knowledge) - U.S.-based financial holding company JPMorgan Chase & Co recently reduced its shareholding in Bank of China<601988><3988>, the nation's third-largest lender, to 4.99% from the previous 5%, according to the bourse operator Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing<0388>.

Information from HKEx showed that JPMorgan on Sep. 21 sold 8.29 million H shares of BOC for HK$36.06 million. The average share price of the transaction was HK$4.35 per share.

In addition, the U.S. company on Sep. 9 reduced its stake in Sinopec<600028><0386><SNP>, which is Asia's largest oil refiner, to 8.84% from the previous 9.08%. It sold 40.03 million H shares of Sinopec for HK$271 million at an average price of HK$6.78 apiece.

H shares of BOC dropped 3.97% to end at HK$4.11 yesterday.
