Casavant will be offered a shorter sentence in return for a plea of guilty and a turn over of whatever's left. The feds like convictions without trials. They have plenty of other cases to work on.
I would assume that with the hints of OC connections, the feds might also want UC to talk to them about how he and the other LV degenerates got "hooked up." But, that's just a guess. Perhaps the feds will quickly move on and be satisfied that UC and Edwards spend a decade, or so, in prison.
I have no idea whether Casavant will take any offer. However, there is no way in the world he will beat the rap completely. He must know this - assuming his brain is not too "wet." Any competent lawyer will let him know his meager options.
10-12 with "full" restitution may look good if some of the money is untraceable and he thinks Carolyn can keep away from it for 8-10 years so that it is still buried when he gets out - an old and broken man.
