My comment..IDCC's Japanese Licensee's will benefit greatly from this Alliance..The IDCC License page already reflects the upgraded Toshiba 3G Standards..The person who is in charge of that Job probably feels like the Maytag repair person!

DoCoMo to tie up with Cingular for 3G cell phone business

TOKYO — NTT DoCoMo Inc will tie up with Cingular Wireless LLC, the second-largest U.S. cellphone service company, in a bid to unify the technical specifications of third-generation cell phones and services, a Japanese business daily reported Thursday.

The Nihon Keizai Shimbun said that DoCoMo and Cingular have already entered into negotiations on forging an alliance which would become the world's second-largest cell phone service provider with some 90 million customers after Britain's Vodafone Group Plc. (Kyodo News)
