heres the thing is you need a mixture of both if the spread gets to far apart people will tend to slow the buying because there is to much possibilty of retrace with a wide gap, The point im making there is a time for being on the ask and there is a time for being on the bid and i do both almost on a 1/1 basis most of the times if im coming in new to a stock i will hit both drice the bid up while hitting the ask and if my bid doesnt get whacked then i will cancel it out and move it all to the ask
